Skipton Road Housing Development Project

The Project

Kingfisher Windows were contracted to work with the Home Group on the new Skipton Road housing development project. Based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, the £38 million tenure-blind project consisted of 214 apartments, detached, end-terrace, linked detached, mid-terrace and semi-detached homes with two to five bedrooms.  One of the key aims of the development was to create a tenure-blind community, ensuring that there was no discernible difference between private homes and affordable homes on the site.  This was achieved through ensuring that all homes on the site were equally attractive, driving unity between the different areas within the community. The project began work in January 2020 and completed work in March 2022. As Kingfisher are highly experienced with manufacturing and supplying the highest quality windows and doors for large scale developments, we were able to provide the results to the highest standards that were essential for such a project.  

The Products Used 

For this commercial double glazing project, the windows and doors contracted were Optima from Profile 22, the UK’s leading commercial window and door system. Kingfisher Windows are proud to have been awarded the large scale development, using over 1,700 casement and flush casement windows, as well as residential doors and French doors.  The Optima from Profile 22 system we used is a fully integrated 70mm window system. It comes with a variety of customisable options, including the widest range of ancillaries on the market, as well as a huge choice of colours. For this housing development project, the windows had a textured Basalt foil exterior, whilst the interior was an understated white, complementing any interior design that homeowners choose.

That’s why the Profile 22 Optima system that was used in this housing development project meets all thermal efficiency requirements as standard. The varying design options for the windows and doors mean that thermal efficiency can be enhanced to meet a project’s specified standards, up to and including 0.8 W/m2K or A++. As well as this, trickle vents were installed, meaning the project is fully compliant with the new trickle vent  rules and regulations that will be in place from June 2022.
